I collect Monster High dolls and have completely run out of room and needed cheap shelves. Walking around Home Depot one day we came to an idea. Wood planks and shelving brackets.Got the shelves up which was great but I’m horrible at painting and they were really bare. Walking around Michaels this evening I thought of another idea. The cool thing with Monster High is how different each doll/character is. So I grabed some thick scrapbooking paper, patterned duct tape, adhesive dots and some clearance Halloween tree. Fair warning we have REALLY old walls and it’s the camera, they aren’t actually yellow. Basic Supplies per Shelf: 6ft x 4inch wide Wood Plank – $4 Shelving Brackets – $.60 x4 (Wall screws) 6 Sheets 12×12 Scrapbooking Paper – $.99 x 6 Houndstooth Pattern Duct Tape – $4.99 Clearance Halloween Tree – $1 1. I’d already had two shelves mounted, easiest way is use toothpaste to mark where you want the shelf on the wood, line it up with a level and press to the wall. The toothpaste leaves marks, mount brackets and you are good to go. If you haven’t done this, it would be your step one. ﷯
2. Now that we have the shelf up, take the wood and cover it completely in the duct tape. One roll covers all but a 3 inch space on one side. Put it on the bottom so it can’t be seen. Use whatever pattern you want, or solid color. The Houndstooth worked great because it was easy to line up and it doesn’t clash with any of the dolls. I’ll change what pattern I use for the next shelf. You might need help with this part. ﷯ 3. Put shelf back on brackets. Now using the adhesive dots put one on each corner of the first sheet of scrapbook paper. I used four very different colors, patterns and glitter since again the dolls don’t match each other I wanted it to be fun. Keep going until you’ve mounted all six pages. They end up being a teeny bit shorter than the dolls when standing. 4. Add whatever decorations you want. I added the flat black tree to go with the Scary Tales dolls.
﷯ 5. Add dolls and done! It’s really cluttered right now simply because I need more shelves…lol The very top shelf will be wider to accommodate the Monster High accessories like the cars, playsets and beds. This portion will most likely require two rolls of duct tape. ﷯ Each shelf under $20 and took less than 20 minutes.
